Donna Hirota created CST Vocabulary lists to prepare our teachers and students for the CST. She updated the lists to included the additional 2008 questions.  The state added 16 more released test questions to grades 2 and 3, and 19 more questions to grades 4 and 5 this year. Please make sure your have the most updated versions from the CDE.ca.gov website.

The purpose of this study was to examine the interrelationships and predictiveness of kindergarten early literacy indicators from the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) within the context of a path analysis. The results support the validity of kindergarten DIBELS in predicting ever more complex reading skills in a developmental progression from the middle of kindergarten to second grade.

Thank you again for making our coach meeting such a success.  You are such a focused group of individuals with a passion for the work you do each and everyday.  I am very thankful to work with such dedicated professionals.
 
I told you I would send you a reminder of what the homework was as far as our “decoding project”.  Please feel free to contact your experts or myself if you need any assistance.

• Continue to work with the same students you have been working with if possible.
• You should be providing instruction in the identified “target skill”.  What does that specific instruction look like and sound like?   (All instruction should be in the classroom where you can be a model for the teachers.)
• You should also be monitoring the progress of that specific instruction.  Be able to provide evidence of monitoring i.e. check-off list, journal entries…
• Begin to introduce this process of differentiated instruction towards a targeted skill (based on data and assessment) to a teacher or teachers (you can also work with a grade level).  The idea is that you begin to help teachers understand this process so they will be able to implement it in their classrooms with their students.
• Please be ready to share your findings with your family.  You need to bring the monitoring evidence you have collected.

Your next family meeting is on Thursday, November 6, 2008, (except Tiffany and Brenda’s family which have agreed to meet on Friday, November 7, 2008).
